I really hope this is something that can be resolved and that the issue will receive proper attention by MSFT because when this feature was first advertised years ago, I thought it was brilliant and knew it would offer a major improvement over conventional We also have an Office365 account that weĬould test with but I would hope that indexing of handwritten notes would work the same regardless of account type.

The syncing of our notebook across devices has not shown any errors. Also, it's a single OneNote notebook that we're working with on a personal OneDrive account.

All OneNoteĪpps on Windows 10, and iOS, have remained current. All note taking has been performed using a prior generation Apple pencil, and prior generation iPad Pro. After some time though, maybe in a matter of days, the ability to search hand written notesįailed and rather inconsistently to the point that one page might get indexed by search but all other new pages, those that mattered, were not. I can echo this same problem and it's now becoming more annoying in particular because this was working initially, and quite flawlessly (it was remarkable really). Not having this with iPad Pro pages is a major shortcoming from my perspective.

The ability to store and search all forms of notes (written, typed, scanned, audio) is one of OneNote's most attractive features. The rest of the page (which had originally been written on the iPad and not been lassoedĪs best I can tell the functionality to index and make searchable any handwritten text on the iPad Pro does not work. All of this newly handwritten ink became searchable on all three platforms.

I then did some additional inking on the bottom of this same page from within OneNote 2016.

None of the other ink handwriting on the page (that was NOT lassoed) became searchable.

I lassoed some of the handwritten ink and selected "treat ink as handwriting." This ink immediately became searchable on all three platforms (after a few seconds to sync).

This duplicated page exhibited the same behavior as its original.

The next day, I duplicated the page within OneNote 2016.

Ink handwriting on this page remains unsearchable on any platform. I waited a few hours but the inked phrases never became searchable.

I waited a few minutes for the note to sync to OneNote 2016 (the version that is central to my work).

I also typed (keyboard) a few phrases on the same page and all of these were searchable (tan highlight).

Wrote several phrases within OneNote on my iPad Pro.

Nothing that I pen in OneNote on my iPad Pro becomes searchable within OneNote 2016 desktop or OneNote.
